Washington, DC (January 23, 2017) – Epstein Becker Green is pleased to announce that E. John Steren, a nationally recognized antitrust attorney, has joined its Health Care & Life Sciences and Litigation & Business Disputes practices as a Member of the Firm. Based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office, Mr. Steren will devote a significant amount of time helping health care organizations manage the various and complicated antitrust issues associated with business combinations and other transactions and, more generally, on other complex commercial and civil litigation matters, wherever they arise.
Mr. Steren has over 25 years of legal experience, the most recent of which as Chairman of Ober Kaler’s Antitrust and Competition Practice and Co-Chair of its Litigation Practice.
Mr. Steren represents a variety of health care entities and providers, including hospitals and physicians, in antitrust matters, such as civil and government investigations and compliance with Hart-Scott-Rodino premerger notification requirements. He also appears, on behalf of clients, in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels and regulatory agencies.
In addition, Mr. Steren represents clients in commercial litigation matters, including business disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, banking, unfair competition, trade secrets, non-competes, and other business torts. He serves as defense counsel in connection with False Claims Act cases (including qui tam litigation) and has litigated class action cases.
“We are thrilled to welcome an attorney as respected and esteemed as John,” said Mark E. Lutes, Chair of Epstein Becker Green. “John’s extensive background and experience in antitrust, business litigation, and non-competes make our offerings even more robust across health care, life sciences, and litigation.”
Mr. Steren added, “I am excited about the opportunity to serve my clients with Epstein Becker Green’s national platform. The firm’s representation of the health care industry is exceptional, and I look forward to working alongside such a collegial group of lawyers.”
