New York, NY (July 15, 2020) – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce that it has received a high qualifying score on the 2020 Disability Equality Index®, the leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide, strengthening EBG’s commitment to bringing our clients a diverse team of attorneys and professionals.
The Disability Equality Index, a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN, is a comprehensive disability inclusion assessment tool that allows leading businesses to self-report their disability practices and policies. Celebrated by business leaders and disability advocates alike, the Disability Equality Index seeks to advance the best practices that should be expected of all large employers. Of the 205 businesses to qualify in 2020 with scores of 80 or above, EBG (with a score of 90) is one of only three law firms to be included on this prestigious list.
“Disability awareness, accommodation, and related initiatives are an important part of EBG’s Core Values and culture of inclusion,” said James Flynn, EBG’s Managing Director. “The Disability Equality Index has been instrumental in providing benchmarks and feedback towards evaluating EBG’s disability initiatives while also keeping us abreast of changes and recommendations that can enhance the firm’s efforts.”
“The index provides the necessary tools to measure our results and communicate the same to senior management and the market. Completing the Disability Equality Index has become an integral resource in how the firm creates, validates, and continues to evolve its disability initiatives,” noted Edward M. Kennedy, Jr., EBG Member of the Firm.
“The best way to attract, retain, and grow talent with disabilities is to create an accessible, inclusive workplace. This year’s top-scoring Disability Equality Index companies are demonstrating their commitment to many of the numerous leading disability inclusion practices featured in the Disability Equality Index, recognizing that there’s still room for improvement,” said Jill Houghton, President & Chief Executive Officer, Disability:IN. “We are proud to have developed strong partnerships with corporate allies that are committed to advancing disability inclusion and equality across their businesses in the United States and around the world.”
Mr. Kennedy has been an active leader in the movement to expand opportunities for persons with disabilities, and, in June 2017, was elected Chair of the Board of the AAPD.
