New York, NY (September 23, 2010) — National law firm Epstein Becker Green is pleased to announce that its two founding national practices — Labor and Employment and Health Care and Life Sciences — were ranked in the top tier in the inaugural U.S. News — Best Lawyers" Best Law Firms" Rankings for 2010.

The Firm's Labor and Employment Practice was nationally ranked in Tier 1 for Employment Law — Management, and the Firm's Health Care and Life Sciences Practice was ranked in Tier 1 in both New York and Washington, D.C., for Health Care Law. There was no national health care category in this year's survey.

Furthermore, the Labor and Employment Practice ranked in Tier 1 in New York for Employment Law - Management, Labor Law — Management, and Elder Law and ranked nationally in Tier 2 for Labor Law — Management.

"We are honored to be recognized in the top tier in a survey produced by such a prestigious publication especially since our rankings are the direct result of evaluations received from our clients and peers," said Douglas Hastings, Chair of the Board of Directors and a Member of the Firm's Health Care and Life Sciences Practice. "These results are not easily achieved and are a tribute to the tireless efforts made by each of our attorneys and staff in the pursuit of client service excellence."

In addition, the Firm was ranked in the following metropolitan areas:

  • Tier 2: Atlanta for Franchise Law, Houston for Employment Law — Management, Miami for Employment Law — Management, and New York for Immigration Law
  • Tier 3: Houston for Labor Law — Management, Miami for Labor Law — Management, and New Jersey for Employment Law — Management, and Labor Law — Management

Best Lawyers, one of the oldest and most respected peer-review publications in the legal profession, partnered with U.S. News & World Report, the leading rankings publication in the U.S., to establish the U.S. News — Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms" rankings. These inaugural rankings, which are presented in tiers both nationally and by metropolitan area or by state, showcase 8,782 different law firms ranked in one or more of 81 major practice areas. Major clients and leading lawyers were asked to rate the law firms they consider best in their practice area. The survey responses were then combined with more than 3.1 million evaluations of individual lawyers at these firms in the most recent Best Lawyers survey. Hard numbers were also used to develop the practice area rankings — data about lawyers and their experience, clients within different billing ranges, transactions and litigation matters at different dollar levels, pro bono commitment, diversity, and other data.
