Following is an excerpt:
Epstein Becker & Green, a New York-based firm that already had a significant New Jersey presence going back to the 1980s, has brought aboard a 15-lawyer health care group from Newark’s Sills Cummis & Gross and opened a new office in Princeton, New Jersey.
The group—led by Gary Herschman, who was co-chair of Sills Cummis’ health care practice, as well as Anthony Argiropoulos, Anjana Patel and Jack Wenik—will be scattered among Epstein Becker’s Newark and New York offices, as well as its new office, in the Princeton Forrestal Village complex off of Route 1. …
“Big clients are gravitating toward national health care practices,” Herschman said, citing the flurry of consolidation and other activity precipitated by the Affordable Care Act. “Going to a firm with a truly national health care practice was the best thing we could do.”
Herschman said “there’s a true transformation going on” in the industry.
“If you asked me 10 years ago, I probably wouldn’t have predicted this,” Herschman said.
Argiropoulos called the move “client-driven.”
“You have to look at your clients and your practice,” Argiropoulos said. “You look inwardly and decide if the platform concept is something you need to focus on.”
