Serving Those Who Serve Us

New York, NY (May 5, 2020) – It’s #GivingTuesdayNow and National Nurses Week, and Epstein Becker Green (EBG) would like to support frontline health care workers and restaurant owners by saying “thank you” to some of our country’s Most Valuable Providers (MVPs), with a goal of raising $100,000 to provide at least 5,000 meals to those who serve us all.

Health care providers have been on the front line of the COVID-19 crisis. These deeply committed professionals are tirelessly serving our communities, caring for coronavirus patients while being separated from their own families and loved ones.

Meanwhile, restaurant owners that employ thousands of workers are facing closure and bankruptcy, leaving many with mouths to feed—all while struggling to provide and serve meals to their communities.

“Because of Epstein Becker Green’s focus on health care and labor and employment, we understand firsthand the ways that health care providers and restaurant owners have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic—as well as the residual impact on the U.S. labor market, more broadly,” said Ian Carleton Schaefer, Member of the Firm at EBG.

Inspired by wanting to help both health care providers and restaurant owners, a few EBG employees began purchasing meals from local restaurants and providing them to health care workers. To expand upon this effort, the firm created a campaign named “Most Valuable Providers (MVPs) – Serving Those Who Serve Us.” One aspect of this campaign is a GoFundMe page through which all donations will be collected.

“This effort is about saying ‘thank you’ to these brave individuals and essential institutions by providing food to MVP doctors, nurses, and hospital staff while also helping other MVPs—our restaurant owners and operators, front- and back-of-the-house employees, and  delivery personnel—by enabling them to continue to provide for their families,” said Jeff Ruzal, Member of the Firm at EBG.

“We have already had a tremendous response inside EBG, and we hope our clients and contacts will join us in our effort,” added Schaefer.
