Regulatory Attorney Julie Watson Lampley and Compliance Pro Machelle Dunavant Shields Expand Firm’s Capabilities

Nashville, TN (July 22, 2019) – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce that seasoned health care regulatory attorney Julie Watson Lampley and senior executive health care policy and compliance professional Machelle Dunavant Shields have joined the firm’s Nashville office.

Ms. Lampley and Ms. Shields join EBG from Butler Snow, where Ms. Lampley developed and led the firmwide Healthcare Industry Team and previously served as the Healthcare Regulatory and Transactions Practice Group Leader, and where Ms. Shields, who is located in Memphis, served as the President of the Butler Snow affiliate focused on regulatory, clinical, quality, privacy, compliance, and reimbursement initiatives for medical device, biologics, and tissue manufacturers. Ms. Lampley joins as a Member of the Firm, and Ms. Shields will be a Strategic Advisor with the firm’s affiliate consultancy EBG Advisors.

Ms. Lampley has more than 30 years of experience in the representation of pharmaceutical and medical device companies, academic medical centers and other research organizations, hospital systems, physician practice acquisition and management companies, dialysis providers, and other institutional health care providers. Ms. Shields has more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of compliance and ethics, privacy (HIPAA), and reimbursement support and strategy. She previously served as an executive for one of the world’s top medical device companies. Ms. Shields serves clients across the health care spectrum in all aspects of privacy, compliance, reimbursement, and operational initiatives.

Ms. Lampley was accepted to the Nashville Health Care Council Fellows Program in 2015 and served as a Board Member from 2015-2016. She currently serves on the board of BioFlorida, a network that includes 6,200 establishments and research organizations in the biopharmaceuticals, medical technology, healthIT, and bioagriculture sectors.

Ms. Shields speaks frequently on topics related to reimbursement and compliance and has served on a number of influential industry boards. She is currently President-Elect of the Southeastern Medical Device Association and serves on the executive committee of MedTech Women.  She previously served on the Auditing and Monitoring Tools Editorial Board of the Healthcare Compliance Association.  Ms. Shields is presently a mentor for Zeroto510K and Life Science Tennessee.
