Through its China Initiative, Epstein Becker Green (“EBG”) seeks to help Chinese companies conduct business and make investments in, and immigrate to, the United States. EBG is honored to have been selected to represent many Chinese businesses operating in the United States in the financial sector, including a number of the largest Chinese banks that have been granted branch status. EBG has also represented other companies headquartered in China in the health care and life sciences, energy, extractive, logistics, and shipping sectors, among others.
The China Initiative consists of a multidisciplinary team whose members have traveled to China, have experience working with Chinese clients, and are acutely aware of the legal and business issues facing Chinese businesses today and the emerging trends that they will face in the future.
EBG has now established its China Initiative HR Forum. Through this Forum, EBG intends to meet several times a year with a select group of its Chinese clients and friends to share EBG’s wealth of knowledge in the field of labor, employment, and HR. These luncheon presentations will be free of charge to our clients and friends, and will begin at noon with lunch provided by EBG, followed by an interactive PowerPoint slide presentation by one of our China Initiative attorneys. The program will conclude with a Q&A session, which is set to end around 2:00 p.m.

Update on Health Reform in the United States
The U.S. regulators are moving quickly to implement the health reform statute, the Affordable Care Act. Rules have been released over the past few months concerning employer shared responsibility penalties, individual penalties, participation in federal exchanges, discrimination based on pre-existing conditions, essential health benefit requirements and expanded employment-based wellness. This HR Forum Program will provide an overview of significant recent developments in health care reform, its impact on overseas employers and an update of the implementation of the law in 2014 and beyond. Topics will include:

- Critical employer decision making and planning for 2014 and beyond
