New York, NY(January 4, 2023)Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is thrilled to announce that the firm is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023.

To mark the occasion, the firm unveiled a new 50-year digital retrospective on its website, displaying an interactive timeline of the firm’s history told through landmark legislation and historical industry events in the areas of health care, life sciences, and employment law. The theme, “Focused for 50,” a nod to our core practice focuses, and a 50th anniversary logo will be featured prevalently on firm materials throughout the year.

“Celebrating 50 years is as much a way to set our focus to the next 50 as it is a reflection on where we came from and how we got here,” said Mark E. Lutes, Chair of EBG’s Board of Directors and a Member of the Firm. “Each of these is equally necessary, as an understanding of our origins and development is essential to how we advance the strategies and initiatives that will further improve and expand our ability to serve our clients.”

Recognized as a health care law pioneer and the first “health care law firm,” EBG was grown out of a need for health care- and workforce-focused attorneys after the enactment of a wave of important legislation in the 1960s and 1970s—including the Medicare and Medicaid Act and the Equal Pay Act.

“Looking over the past 50 years, it is certainly apparent that the values that Epstein Becker Green was built on are the reason for the firm’s success throughout the decades,” said James P. Flynn, Managing Director and Member of the Firm. “These foundational commitments to entrepreneurial spirit, collaboration, and diversity—not only in the makeup of our team but also in the breadth of viewpoints, thought leadership, and backgrounds—are still tangibly present in every facet of the firm today.”

Since our beginnings in 1973, founders Steven B. Epstein, Jeffrey H. Becker, and Ronald (Ron) M. Green created a firm and established a diverse network of attorneys from which to serve clients in a developing space. A video released to accompany this celebratory announcement prominently features our three founding members, encapsulating EBG’s expansion over five decades. Today, more than 325 EBG attorneys in 18 different cities support the firm’s clients, and EBG has further developed resources able to assist with litigation and transactions.
