New York, NY (July 1, 2015) – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce the addition of George Carroll Whipple, III, as Member of the Firm in the Employment, Labor, and Workforce Management practice. Mr. Whipple, who is based in the firm’s New York office, previously served as Managing Director and Chairman of Credit Suisse’s Global Human Resources, Executive Compensation, and Employment Law Practice Group.

“We are thrilled to welcome George, a talented and well-known employment attorney and litigator with extensive first-hand financial services industry knowledge, to our firm,” said Carmine A. Iannaccone, Managing Director of EBG. “In line with the firm’s industry focus, George will strengthen our commitment to the financial services industry, an industry in which we are extremely well regarded.”

“The insight that George has acquired over more than two decades as a Managing Director at Credit Suisse will be invaluable to our clients as they grapple with the challenges in today’s highly regulated financial services sectors,” added David W. Garland, Chair of EBG’s Employment, Labor, and Workforce Management Steering Committee. “George’s day-to-day involvement with the highest level of management of one of the worlds’ leading investment banks will bring an exceptional set of experiences and skills that can only benefit our clients.”

At Credit Suisse, Mr. Whipple developed an Employee Recognition Program to honor staff for extraordinary service and launched a Credit Suisse Alumni Network to facilitate productive ongoing relationships between the bank and its former employees. Mr. Whipple developed a number of awards to recognize employee contributions, including the CEO Leadership Awards and the Longevity Awards. He also anchored “This Week at Credit Suisse,” a weekly news program about the bank and its business. At EBG, Mr. Whipple will combine his sharp instincts and deep industry and legal acumen with the experience that he developed as a senior executive to counsel employers on workplace issues, including hiring and promotion, firing and discipline, wage and hour, and the implementation of employment policies, to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.

Prior to working at Credit Suisse, Mr. Whipple was the head of the employment law group at investment bank Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette and began his career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP, where he litigated employment cases.

“The level of service that I received as a client was definitely a differentiator and one of the primary factors I considered when I decided to join EBG,” said Mr. Whipple. “Plus, as an employment lawyer and litigator, I could not have found a better fit for my practice, and I look forward to offering my experience to the firm’s terrific roster of clients.”

In addition to Mr. Whipple, EBG recently welcomed Richard B. Palmer, Jr., as a Senior Counsel in the Employment, Labor, and Workforce Management practice, in the New York office. Mr. Palmer, who also joins from Credit Suisse, has experience advising human resource managers on employment-related issues, drafting employment agreements and executive compensation agreements, and managing litigation. Earlier in his career, Mr. Palmer was the Managing Director, Deputy General Counsel, Head of Employment Law and Litigation, for HSBC Securities (USA) Inc.

Mr. Whipple and Mr. Palmer join an impressive group of attorneys who have recently been added to EBG’s Employment, Labor, and Workforce Management practice, including Valerie Butera, Deborah DeHart Cannavino, Nathaniel Glasser, and Joshua Stein.
