Epstein Becker Green Diversity. Embrace, promote, celebrate.

To kick off Diversity Awareness Month, we invite you to a cocktail buffet reception to celebrate the collaboration between the National Consortium on Racial and Ethnic Fairness in the Courts (NCREFC) and the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation. We recognize Heart Mountain's Chair, Shirley Ann Higuchi, for her work to help preserve an important piece of United States history.

This celebration will feature:

Shirley Ann Higuchi, Esq.
Assistant Executive Director, American Psychological Association Legal and Regulatory Affairs
Chair, the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation
Past President, District of Columbia Bar

Hon. Anna Blackburne-Rigsby
Associate Judge, D.C. Court of Appeals
Board Member and Chair of the 25th Anniversary Conference, NCREFC

Hon. Edward C. Clifton
Associate Justice, Superior Court of Rhode Island
President, NCREFC

We are proud to award Shirley our "Make A Difference" Award. Honoring her promise to her mom, Shirley worked to create an interpretive center dedicated to Japanese Americans illegally imprisoned during World War II. Shirley's mom and dad were incarcerated at Heart Mountain. Shirley, along with others, proudly unveiled the Heart Mountain Interpretive Centeron August 20, 2011. The Center is located on the grounds of the former Heart Mountain Relocation Center, about 60 miles from Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

On June 25-27, 2014, the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation will host the annual conference of NCREFC. Judge Blackburne-Rigsby and Justice Clifton will offer remarks on NCREFC and its mission as well as next June's event at Heart Mountain. To learn more about this event and about sponsorship opportunities, please visit the Heart Mountain website: http://heartmountain.org/national_consortium.html. We will gladly accept donations at the reception to support the National Consortium and next June's event at Heart Mountain.

The reception also will feature the East Coast premiere of selected segments of the ABC documentary Witness: The Legacy of Heart Mountain. The Emmy award-winning team of journalist David Ono and producer Jeff MacIntyre travel to Heart Mountain. They share the stories of Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation Board members, as well as Southern California families who endured the injustices of internment.

We hope to see you there!
