Epstein Becker Green represented an individual who was charged with 21 counts related to tax preparation fraud in a criminal tax prosecution investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS, a U.S. Attorney's Office, and the Department of Justice’s Tax Division. We also successfully negotiated a rare and favorable plea agreement for this client pursuant to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 11(c)(1)(C), by which the government agreed to a below-guidelines sentence range of six to 13 months. Through zealous and impassioned advocacy, we successfully secured for the client a six-month sentence, the shortest possible under the plea agreement.
