Through its China Initiative, Epstein Becker Green (“EBG”) seeks to help Chinese companies conduct business and make investments in, and immigrate to, the United States. EBG is honored to have been selected to represent many Chinese businesses operating in the United States in the financial sector, including a number of the largest Chinese banks that have been granted branch status. EBG has also represented other companies headquartered in China in the health care and life sciences, energy, extractive, logistics, and shipping sectors, among others.
The China Initiative consists of a multidisciplinary team whose members have traveled to China, have experience working with Chinese clients, and are acutely aware of the legal and business issues facing Chinese businesses today and the emerging trends that they will face in the future.
EBG recently established its China Initiative HR Forum. Through this HR Forum, EBG intends to meet several times a year with a select group of its Chinese clients and friends to share EBG’s wealth of knowledge in the field of labor, employment, and human resources. These luncheon presentations will be free of charge to our clients and friends. They will begin at noon with lunch provided by EBG, followed by an interactive PowerPoint slide presentation by one of our China Initiative attorneys. The program will conclude with a Q&A session, which is set to end before 2:00 p.m.
We hope that you can join us for our presentation on July 29, 2015, beginning at noon, entitled:
Update on Important U.S. Immigration Law Issues
While the issue of immigration continues to be a political “hot potato” in Congress, many of our Chinese clients bear the burden of increased enforcement, H-1B cap issues, quota problems with the EB-5 classification and ever more restrictive interpretations of the L-1 and H-1B areas. This HR Forum will provide an overview of recent development in these and other areas as well as the opinions of our China Initiative Team on how best to address these and related issues. Topics will include:
- H-1B and Form I-9 enforcement issues
- Surviving the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' restrictive interpretations in the L-1 classification
- Updates on EB-5 quota problems
- Upcoming deadlines and new developments
