BRIAN HEDGEMAN* is an Advisor in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice, in the Washington, DC, office of Epstein Becker Green. He will be focusing his practice on privacy and security law, food and drug law, digital health, health regulatory due diligence, and managed care issues. 

Mr. Hedgeman is a Certified CSF Practitioner, a designation given by the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST), an organization that provides training to develop and maintain effective security programs for health care and life sciences companies that comply with security laws, regulations, and standards, including HITECH, HIPAA, PCI, JCAHO, CMS, ISO, NIST, and various other federal, state, and business requirements.

Mr. Hedgeman holds a law degree from Howard University School of Law, where he was President of the school’s Health Law Society. He also has a Master of Public Health and a Master of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University and a Doctor of Public Health degree in Health Education & Promotion from Loma Linda University. His dissertation focused on social support, stress, medical distrust, and cardiovascular disease differences among minority male subgroups.

While attending Loma Linda University, Mr. Hedgeman worked as a Research Assistant in the school’s Office of Public Health Practice, where he researched a number of public health topics, including HIV/AIDS, breast and prostate cancer, heart disease, obesity, and genetically modified food regulations. Prior to that, Mr. Hedgeman served as a Researcher/Nutritional Analyst with an HIV/AIDS nonprofit in Southern California.
