Jesse Caplan, a Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice, in the Washington, DC, office, will receive The St. Thomas More Society of Worcester County's Bishop Bernard J. Flanagan Ecumenical Award. The St. Thomas More Society confers awards on those who exemplify the qualities and traits of St. Thomas More.
This and three other awards (Distinguished Jurist, Distinguished Attorney, and Distinguished Catholic Layperson) are presented annually at Red Mass events across the country. The Red Mass is a religious ceremony for all persons in the legislative, judicial and executive branches of government and the Bar, Catholic and non-Catholic. It receives its traditional name from the color of the vestments worn by the Celebrants of the Mass and the color of the robes worn by the judges attending the King's Bench in Westminster, England. The Fifty Fourth Annual Red Mass in Worcester will be celebrated on Sunday, October 23, at the Cathedral of St. Paul on High Street and will be followed by a brunch at Coral Seafood.
