Newark, NJ (June 3, 2020) – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is proud to announce that Gary W. Herschman and Anjana D. Patel have been recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal’s Professional Excellence 2020 awards in the “Dealmakers” category for their work in 2019.

Mr. Herschman and Ms. Patel, described as “prolific dealmakers,” are Members of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice, in the firm’s Newark office. They advise and assist health care providers in strategically positioning themselves in the rapidly changing health care marketplace. This includes advising clients in regard to consolidations, affiliations, mergers and acquisitions, as well as joint ventures, physician alignment, clinically integrated networks, accountable care organizations, management services organizations, independent practice associations, physician hospital organizations, and population health contracts.

Between them, Mr. Herschman and Ms. Patel closed no less than 15 significant health care transactions in 2019 that totaled, conservatively, over $1.125 billion. These deals exhibited geographic, substantive, and market diversity and involved (i) acquisitions or sales of hospitals/integrated health care systems, ambulatory care centers, surgi-centers, clinical labs, physician practices, and imaging facilities; (ii) financing transactions; (iii) operating/management services agreements; (iv) system membership substitution; (v) dental practice private equity affiliation; and (vi) clinical research site services.

According to New Jersey Law Journal Editors David Gialanella and Juliette Gillespie, “Things this year have been a bit different—or a lot different. One constant, though, is that we have endeavored to recognize professional excellence in all its forms, and so we congratulate these winners on their fine 2019 work.”

Honorees will be celebrated at the New Jersey Legal Awards 2020 ceremony in September of this year.
