Epstein Becker Green Adds Seasoned Health Care Attorney Ellen Bonner in NashvilleJuly 18, 2017
Nashville, TN (July 18, 2017) – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce that it has added seasoned health care attorney Ellen Bonner to its Nashville office. Ms. Bonner joins as a Member of the Firm.
With more than 20 years of government contracts and health care experience in both the public and private sectors, Ms. Bonner provides strategic advice to companies seeking business with federal, state, and local governments. As a former federal government health care lawyer and as a former executive with health care insurance companies, Ms. Bonner has successfully litigated and advised on multibillion-dollar health care contracts and brings a comprehensive and invaluable perspective to the demands of a government contract or health care business.
“Ellen’s experience and comprehensive understanding of the government procurement process will be an exceptional asset to our health care clients that are considering doing business with federal, state, and local governments,” said Mark E. Lutes, Chair of Epstein Becker Green. “We always try to add attorneys to our firm who can benefit from our national platform, industry strength, and deep bench, and we look forward to the many contributions that Ellen will make as part of our team.”
“No matter what type of health reform takes place in the future at either the federal or state levels, it will include an even greater role for the state and federal governments as purchasers and regulators. That is why adding Ellen Bonner to our existing government contracts practice group will be invaluable to our clients,” added Lynn Shapiro Snyder, an EBG Board Member.
Last month, EBG announced that Richard Westling had joined the firm to establish a presence in Nashville, further serve clients in the region, and connect the dots between the vibrant health care market in Nashville and developments in Washington, DC, and at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Ms. Bonner served as Assistant General Counsel with the Department of Defense’s TRICARE Management Activity (now the Defense Health Agency). In that role, she reviewed, advised on, and litigated government health care contracts; represented the government in administrative hearings; and counseled the government on health care policy. Her business experience includes serving as Vice President of Government Contracts for a Wisconsin health insurance company and on the Executive Leadership Team and the Compliance Council of a government contracts health care subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company, where she was Vice President and Senior Counsel.
“Clients want attorneys who can provide both legal and business savvy advice,” said George B. Breen, Member of the Firm and Chair of the firm’s National Health Care and Life Sciences Steering Committee. “Ellen’s combined legal and business operational experience is outstanding, and her ability to advise clients on the complex government contracting process while simultaneously helping them achieve their overall business objectives will serve the firm’s clients quite well.”
“The ability to service my national client base at a firm with a national platform is what led me to EBG,” said Ms. Bonner. “The opportunity to join forces with an exceptional team of attorneys with deep knowledge in all areas of health care law is exciting and will be mutually beneficial.”
