New York, NY (July 7, 2010) — National law firm Epstein Becker Green is pleased to announce that Doug Hastings, Chair of the Board of Directors and a Member of the Firm's Health Care and Life Sciences practice in the Washington, D.C. office, was presented with the David J. Greenburg Service Award by the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) at its Annual Meeting Board dinner on June 26 in Seattle, Washington.

Hastings was recognized for the significant contributions he has made over the years to help the AHLA achieve its mission of serving as a resource for health care lawyers and the public. The Service Award is named after the late David J. Greenburg, who founded both the Academy of American Healthcare Attorneys in 1967 and the National Health Lawyers Association in 1971, the organizations that came together to form the AHLA.

"I am honored and humbled to receive this award," said Hastings. "David Greenberg was a true professional in every sense of the word. He inspired me with his vision, passion, commitment and discipline. It is a testament to David that we are all health care law professionals and stewards of his legacy. We continue to honor him through AHLA's mission of education, information and dialogue, especially during this critical time for health care in America."

Hastings served on the board of directors of the American Health Lawyers Association from 1991 to 2003, and was president of that organization from 2001-2002. He is listed in Chambers USA in tier one for health care transactions nationally and described by Chambers as a "transactional genius" and "one of the top health care lawyers in the country." He was also named by Nightingale's Healthcare News as one of the "Significant Healthcare Industry Decisionmakers — 2010."
