Bradley Merrill Thompson, a Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice, in the Washington, DC, office, was quoted in “Lawmakers Ask HHS to Clarify HIPAA Privacy Requirements for App Developers.”
Following is an excerpt:
Attorney Bradley Merrill Thompson, with Epstein Becker & Green PC, agreed that app developers shouldn't have to “hire a legion of attorneys just to help them understand how they are supposed to comply.”
Thompson told Bloomberg BNA that the HIPAA Privacy Rule is complex and that clearer guidance on how to comply could spur innovation.
“I'm certainly sympathetic to how complicated the underlying regulatory requirements are, but the government can invest, I think, more time and energy into demystifying these requirements, for the good of everyone,” he said.
