Trapp Quoted on Employee Free Choice Act

Mark M. Trapp, an Associate in the Labor and Employment and Litigation practices in the Washington, DC and Chicago offices, was quoted in the Las Vegas Sun on the potential impact of the Employee Free Choice Act on employers.

Trapp, speaking at a conference of the National Grocers Association, warned the audience that if the Employee Free Choice Act becomes law, it would allow unions to skirt a secret-ballot election supervised by the National Labor Relations Board.

In the article, "Grocers hear pitch opposing card check," Trapp also pointed out the law would impose mandatory arbitration if opposing sides cannot agree on a contract in 120 days. "This turns your business over to someone who may not know about your market, your customers or anything else," he said. "They are taking your business and imposing their will."
