René Y. Quashie, Senior Counsel in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice, in the firm's Washington, DC, office, was quoted in eHealth Law & Policy, “Telehealth Suffers in Latest Draft 21st Century Cures Act.”

Following is an excerpt:

“There aren’t many bills that enjoy this level of bipartisan support,” said René Y. Quashie, Senior Counsel at Epstein Becker Green. ...

“I think the bill falls far short of what was expected in the telehealth space. Prior versions of the bill had real teeth addressing Medicare access and reimbursement in a substantive way. All those were stripped from the latest version,” adds Quashie. “The good news is that other telehealth bills have been introduced and the issue has the kind of visibility never seen before. But the fact remains that 21CCA could have been a boost to dealing with telehealth issues in a serious way.”
