Pierre Georges Bonnefil Featured in Fairfield University Magazine for Receipt of Légion d’Honneur AwardFairfield University Magazine Fall 2015
Pierre Georges Bonnefil, a Member of the Firm in the Immigration Law Group of the Labor and Employment practice, in the firm’s New York office, was featured in Fairfield University Magazine, in “Pierre George Bonnefil ’80: A Recipient of France’s Legion of Honor for Service to Others.” Mr. Bonnefil was appointed a Chevalier in the French Légion d’Honneur by the Republic of France earlier this year and accepted the prestigious award from Bertrand Lortholary, the French Consul General.
Following is an excerpt:
“Everyone here knows what a generous, giving and altogether extraordinary person you are, what an invaluable addition you have been to our team,” Lortholary told Bonnefil at the May ceremony, in which he was honored for 15 years of volunteer service advising newly arrived French citizens.
For Bonnefil, helping others comes naturally. “I majored in psychology because I always figured I wanted to work with people,” he said. “I thought it would be a good stepping stone for something better.”
Bonnefil applied to Fairfield without ever visiting the campus and still remembers the warm August day when he “just showed up” for his first year. “I thought, ‘oh, wow! Look at this.’ It was absolutely gorgeous.”
