Neuhauser Quoted in Wall Street Journal on Legal Issues Raised by Office Infidelity

Maxine Neuhauser, a Member of the Firm in the Labor and Employment practice in the Newark office, was quoted in the Wall Street Journal's "Work & Family" column on the issue of possible legal action that an employee might take against a supervisor suspected of having an offensive extramarital affair.

In the column, titled "Infidelity Causing Discomfort at Work," a reader questioned what the options were for dealing with such a situation.

Neuhauser suggested that, based on the facts, the reader would not have a legal claim. In general, employers' ethics codes aren't enforceable as contracts. The supervisor's alleged hypocrisy, "though regrettable, is not illegal," Neuhauser said.
