Eileen Millett Quoted in “State Bar Wins Delay on Change to UBE”

State Bar News November/December 2014

Eileen D. Millet, Counsel in the Litigation and Health Care and Life Sciences practices, in the firm's New York office, was quoted in the New York State Bar Association’s State Bar News, in “State Bar Wins Delay on Change to UBE,” by Patricia Sears Doherty.

Following is an excerpt:

Eileen D. Millett of New York City (Epstein Becker & Green. P.C.) and Dean Patricia E. Salkin of Central Islip (Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center), co-chairs of the State Bar's Committee on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar, prepared the report that accompanied a resolution to delay action. Both outlined numerous discrepancies in the Board of Law Examiners advocacy for the UBE, including its supposed ease of portability between states.

"Who is it practical and pragmatic for—students? Practicing attorneys? Or students who will take the UBE in other states and come to practice in New York?" asked Millett.

"Profitability? Practice readiness? Will the UBE be good for New York? We would like the practicing bar to have a seat at the table."
