The delegates heard a report adopted on Thursday by its executive committee about Lippman's plan to use the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) as the basis of the New York state bar examination. The state bar's legal education committee co-chair, Eileen Millett of Epstein Becker & Green, said the committee still finds too many unanswered questions to endorse the idea.

Millett said her committee wants the Board of Law Examiners (BOLE), which administers the exam in New York, to answer questions about the effect changing to the UBE would have on minority student passage rates and other potential ramifications.

"We are asking that BOLE do a study now, get the statistics now, gather the data now, and not after the UBE has been implemented," Millett told the House of Delegates.
