Bradley Merrill Thompson Quoted in “EU Appears Open to Suggestions on Mobile Health Oversight”

The Gray Sheet

Bradley Merrill Thompson, a Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice, in the Washington, DC, office, was quoted in an article titled "EU Appears Open to Suggestions on Mobile Health Oversight."

Following is an excerpt:

A European Commission "green paper" on mobile health is not terribly specific on what regulatory actions might be taken to oversee the sector, and instead favors questions posed to industry and stakeholders. The paper invites answers by July 3.

The paper addresses several broad themes, including data protection and privacy, patient safety, and the challenge fitting the mHealth regulations into the current EU framework, as well as interoperability; reimbursement, and international cooperation. Green papers are a vehicle used by the European Union to stimulate discussion on a topic at the European level. ?...

Bradley Thompson, an attorney with Epstein Becker Green, said that he was "impressed" by the document's parallels with the U.S. mobile regulatory efforts. ?... "In some ways the EU is moving faster than the U.S., but everyone also seems to be soliciting ideas and data," he noted in an email.
