That involves, first and foremost, being professional, according to Amy Simmons, director of legal recruitment and professional development for Epstein Becker Green. It can be a challenge, considering that for some summer associates this is the first professional job they’ve had, Simmons said.

“They’re thrown into projects with client interactions, whether internal or external,” Simmons said. “They have to maintain that professionalism and remember they’re being evaluated throughout the entire summer, whether it’s a social event, a meeting or a project.”
