George Breen, Chair of the firm's National Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Steering Committee, will moderate a panel discussion, "Opportunities Created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act," at the upcoming Current Topics in Life Sciences Law, Regulation, and Business Development.
With the enactment in 2010 and the continuing rollout of the PPACA, the US health care system is experiencing its most comprehensive overhaul since the advent of Medicaid and Medicare in the 1960s. Life science and health care companies face both challenges and opportunities in positioning themselves for success in the new environment. This session addresses two key questions:
- What does the implementation of this new legislation mean for life science companies and other participants, such as providers and payors, in the US health care system in 2014 and beyond?
- What opportunities exist for business/product development as a result?
