Epstein Becker Green’s Labor and Employment Practice to Host Biannual Symposium on Future of Labor and Employment Law in D.C. on Jan. 26, 2011

Washington, D.C. (Jan. 11, 2011) — The nationally recognized Labor and Employment Practice of Epstein Becker Green will be hosting its biannual symposium at the National Press Club, located at 529 14th Street, NW, in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 26, 2011. This program entitled, "Obama, Tea Party, Health Care, Jobs: A Midterm Review on the Impact on Labor and Employment Law," will highlight discussions of the significant labor and employment issues that have occurred in the past two years and what businesses can expect to see in this changing economic and social environment.

This program is unique because it will review the last two years since Obama's inauguration, it will take a look at where we are presently today, and it will forecast where we are going in the future following the Midterm elections.

In 2008, Barack Obama promised a renewed focus on labor and employment issues. Following his inauguration, the country witnessed an increase in enforcement of employment regulations and a series of labor-friendly appointments, which have had a significant impact on the workplace.

"Our symposium will cover not only the legal aspects of labor and employment, but it will focus on the economic, social, and political elements that affect businesses in these trying economic times," said Jay P. Krupin, Chair of the Firm's National Labor and Employment Practice. "CEOs, COOs and General Counsels will be armed with the information they need to prepare for 2011 and beyond."

At the symposium, panelists from all over the country will discuss:

  • The Effects of Health Care Reform
  • Proliferation of Wage and Hour Litigation
  • Employment Discrimination Class Action
  • Impact of New National Labor Relations Board
  • Changes to Employee Benefits
  • Immigration Policies
