Epstein Becker Green Attorney Co-Authors Bloomberg BNA Portfolio on Navigating the Telehealth Landscape

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 16, 2014)—Epstein Becker Green today announced that René Y. Quashie has co-authored a topical portfolio for Bloomberg BNA entitled “Navigating the Telehealth Landscape: Legal and Regulatory Issues.” The portfolio discusses the legal and regulatory issues that implicate both federal and state laws and regulations in the practice of telehealth, including coverage, reimbursement, licensure, online prescribing, the corporate practice of medicine, fraud and abuse, credentialing and privileging, privacy and security, medical liability, and international telehealth issues. The portfolio series is available on Bloomberg Law and BNA’s Health Law Resource Center.

Mr. Quashie, co-author of the portfolio, said, “The use of telehealth is expanding, both inside and outside the United States, to improve access to health care. This portfolio discusses the factors driving growth and innovation in this area. Telehealth is also increasingly being seen as an effective tool for improving health outcomes and access to care, especially in underserved areas. While telehealth shows great promise, there are a number of complex legal and regulatory issues that are implicated. The portfolio discusses a number of these issues at a high level to give stakeholders a better sense of potential liabilities and how to address them."

Mr. Quashie is a Senior Counsel in Epstein Becker Green Green’s Health Care and Life Sciences practice, in the firm’s Washington, DC, office. He focuses his practice on federal regulatory and administrative health care matters, including telehealth legal and regulatory issues, Medicare and Medicaid, legislative and health policy, privacy, general compliance, and health information technology. Mr. Quashie is a member of the Legal Resource Team at the Center for Telehealth and eHealth Law, and is a founding contributor to the TechHealth Perspectives blog. Mr. Quashie frequently writes and speaks on current issues in his areas of practice, and has spoken before organizations such as the American Telemedicine Association, the American Psychological Association, and National Capital Healthcare Executives. In 2008, he was named by Nightingale's Healthcare News as one of the "12 Outstanding Young Healthcare Attorneys" in the United States.
